Seven New MOE Kindergartens Opening in 2024 and 2025

Published Date: 25 May 2021 11:00 AM

News Press Releases

1. MOE will be opening a total of seven new MOE Kindergartens (MKs) across Singapore in 2024 and 2025, to provide parents with more choices for quality and affordable pre-school places. With the opening of these seven MKs, we will have 571 MKs by 2025, providing a total of about 7,900 Kindergarten One (K1) places in 2025.

2. All seven MKs will be sited within primary schools and offer Kindergarten Care (KCare) services, each offering about 100 to 120 Kindergarten 1 (K1) places. Please refer to the Annex for the locations and year of opening for the new MKs. Information on the partner Early Years Centres (EYCs)2 of the seven new MKs, if any, will be made available at a later date.

3. Registration for admission to K1 for the new MKs will take place in February of the year prior to its opening3. More details on the registration exercise will be released in early 2023 and 2024 for the new MKs opening in 2024 and 2025 respectively.

4. For parents who require a full-day care service for their child, KCare services are available in all school-based MKs from Mondays to Fridays, 7am to 7pm.

The MOE Kindergarten Experience

5. The MK curriculum is designed by pre-school specialists to nurture children holistically, to be confident, possess strong social skills and have a good foundation in literacy and numeracy. All MKs offer the three Mother Tongue Languages (MTLs) – Chinese, Malay and Tamil – to encourage bilingualism in the early years and help lay a strong foundation for language learning in the later years. MKs also work closely with the primary schools they are sited within, which further supports children’s transition from Kindergarten to Primary 1.

6. For more information about MKs, please visit http://www.moe.gov.sg/mk.
