"Xin Kong Xia 2021" Song Compilation Launch and Showcase

The Committee to Promote Chinese Language Learning (CPCLL) has compiled 15 original songs into a special album titled "Xin Kong Xia 2021". The songs were composed by past student winners from the 2019 and 2020 editions of the National Schools Xinyao Singing and Songwriting Competitions, who were inspired by themes such as family, friendship, and love, as well as stories found in their Chinese textbooks.

2. The album features the official "Xin Kong Xia" theme song, 《新空下》, the winning entry of the newly-introduced Lyrics Writing Category in 2020. This song, together with two other songs from the album, 《小红点》and《情感银行》, were also selected to be produced into music videos.

3. Launched on 3 April 2021 by the Minister of State for Education and Chairperson of the CPCLL, Ms Sun Xueling, the album aims to promote xinyao as part of our cultural heritage, and to instil the joy of learning the Chinese language through listening and composing songs. All 15 songs and three music videos will be made available on the CPCLL website and YouTube channel.

4. Students interested to take part in this year's "Xin Kong Xia" National Schools Music Camp, and Xinyao Singing and Songwriting Competition can sign up via the CPCLL website from 26 April 2021 onwards. Students in secondary schools, ITE, pre-universities, polytechnics, and local government-funded universities are eligible to apply.

5. Co-organised by the CPCLL, Jurong Pioneer Junior College, Lianhe Zaobao and TCR Music Station, the National Schools Xinyao Singing and Songwriting Competition and "Xin Kong Xia 2021" song compilation are part of the "Xin Kong Xia" National Schools Xinyao Festival 2021.
