Seminar for Pre-School Chinese Language Teachers 2018

2018年学前华文教学研讨会

To enhance their professional skills and grow their professional network, more than 800 pre-school Chinese Language (CL) teachers and educationists attended a dedicated seminar on 4 August 2018. Held at ITE (Institute of Technical Education) College Central, the seminar was organised by the Committee to Promote Chinese Language Learning (CPCLL) and supported by the Early Childhood and Development Agency (ECDA).

2. The theme for this year’s seminar was “Home-School Collaboration”, highlighting the importance of effective collaboration between parents and schools in supporting children to learn CL. Ms Zhu Jiwen, Director of Fengtai No.1 Kindergarten in Beijing, delivered the keynote address on ‘Hand in Hand Home-School Collaboration’. 19 educationalists and pre-school teachers then held workshops on innovative pedagogies and shared their experience on teaching CL in pre-schools. Members of CPCLL’s Pre-school Chinese Language Teachers’ Learning Community, who were past recipients of the Outstanding Pre-school Mother Tongue Language Teacher Award (CL), were also involved in facilitating the seminar.

3. At the event, Chairperson of CPCLL, Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Education, Ms Low Yen Ling presented awards to six winners of the inaugural Pre-school CL Storytelling Aids Competition. The winning entries were selected from approximately 300 proposals received between February and April this year. Entries of all finalists were featured at the seminar.
