Minister Ong Ye Kung to Visit Hong Kong and Shenzhen from 22-27 April 2018

Minister for Education (Higher Education and Skills) Mr Ong Ye Kung will visit Hong Kong and Shenzhen, China from 22 to 27 April 2018.

2. At the invitation of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, Mr Ong will visit Hong Kong from 22 to 25 April 2018. He will meet with Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Matthew Cheung; Secretary for Justice, Ms Teresa Cheng; Secretary for Innovation and Technology, Mr Nicholas Yang; Secretary for Education, Mr Kevin Yeung; and Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Mr Patrick Nip; to exchange ideas on a wide range of topics including education, innovation and technology. During the trip, Mr Ong will also visit educational and vocational training institutions.

3. From 26 to 27 April 2018, Mr Ong will visit Shenzhen in his capacity as the Co-Chairman of the Singapore-Guangdong Collaboration Council. Mr Ong will call on Mayor of Shenzhen, Mr Chen Rugui, as well as visit Shenzhen University and tech companies such as Tencent, AAC Technologies, and Zhuiyi Technologies.

4. Mr Ong will also witness the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Haylion Technologies and a Singapore start-up company, Ministry of Movement, to mark their collaboration in the area of rider analytics and on-demand bus scheduling.

5. Mr Ong will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Education and Enterprise Singapore.
