Over 1,700 Gather to Share Educational Technology Ideas

1. The 5th International Conference on Teaching and Learning with Technology (iCTLT) will take place from 28 to 31 March. Mr Ng Chee Meng, Acting Minister for Education (Schools), is the Guest of Honour for the Opening Ceremony on 30 March.

2. The theme of the 2016 conference is Future Ready: Inspire, Connect, Transform. The conference seeks to connect and engage practitioners in an exchange of ideas to transform the way educational leaders guide, develop, and shape organisational culture and infrastructure for meaningful use of ICT. Over 1,700 local and overseas delegates from 20 countries will come together to share their insights, practices, experiences and research studies in the field of educational technology.

3. Distinguished keynote speakers include Dr Michael Fullan, Order of Canada, a recognised worldwide authority on educational reform, and Dr Diana Laurillard, Professor of Learning with Digital Technologies at the London Knowledge Lab, UCL Institute of Education. Lead Specialists in Educational Technology from the Ministry of Education will also share about knowledge building and designing for multimodal learning.

4. Other programme highlights include:

  • Learn@Communities, a pre-conference programme where teachers will share how they use action research to reflect and improve practices.
  • Meet-the-Practitioners, where delegates can engage with teachers who have designed and conducted lessons with impactful use of ICT.
  • Panel discussions such as one that examines the impact and implications of the Smart Nation vision on education.
  • Over 90 presentations by educators and researchers on topics related to learning design.
  • The iCTLT Educational Resource and Technology Exhibition which hosts the EdTech Sparkplug, where delegates can explore how the latest educational technology enhances teaching and learning.

5. The biennial iCTLT conference is jointly organised by the Ministry of Education and the Academy of Principals, Singapore. iCTLT 2016 is supported by the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore, National Institute of Education, and the Singapore Exhibition and Convention Bureau.
