Name and Constituency of Member of Parliament

Dr Wan Rizal, Jalan Besar GRC

Question

To ask the Minister for Education (a) whether a salary review of polytechnics and ITE educators will be conducted; and (b) if so, whether the review will include considering the competitive job market that may impede recruitment of experienced talent and the salary of adjunct lecturers and project staff of polytechnics and ITEs.

Response

We value the contributions of all polytechnic and Institute of Technical Education (ITE) staff, including adjunct lecturers and project staff. The polytechnics and ITE jointly review the salaries of staff periodically to ensure that salaries remain competitive against market benchmarks. Currently, a study on the competitiveness of the existing salary schemes for academic and non-academic staff, including adjuncts, is underway. The outcomes will be shared with staff when the review is completed.
