ASEAN Scholarship for Thailand

These ASEAN scholarships are for students from Thailand joining Secondary 3 or Pre-university 1 in selected Singapore secondary schools or junior colleges. Find out if you are eligible and how to apply.

Students will have opportunities to broaden their horizons and develop important skills such as leadership, communication and other life skills. They can also help to promote goodwill and understanding among young people from different countries and Singapore.

Who is eligible

Thailand nationals who fulfil all the following conditions:

  • Are proficient in English.
  • Have done consistently well in school examinations.
  • Have a good record of participation in co-curricular activities.

Types of scholarships

Type of scholarship Date of birth Results required Duration of scholarship
Secondary 3 2 Jan 2008 to 1 Jan 2011 Mathayom 1 and 2, or Mathayom 2 and 3 with a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3 and above in your final year results. 4 years
Pre-university 2 Jan 2006 to 1 Jan 2008 Mathayom 3 and 4, or Mathayom 4 and 5 with a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3 and above in your final year results. 2 years

Each scholarship leads to the Singapore-Cambridge GCE A-Level certificate, or similar qualification.

The scholarship is renewed each year based on the scholar’s performance in school.

Benefits

The scholarship covers:

  • Annual allowance with hostel accommodation.
  • Settling-in allowance.
  • Return economy airfare.
  • School fees.
  • Examination fees for GCE O-Level and A-Level (once only, as applicable).
  • Subsidised medical benefits and insurance cover for accidents.

Attend selection tests

Shortlisted candidates will be informed at least 1 week in advance to attend the selection tests. Find out more about the selection tests here.

The selection tests may be held in the following cities if there are enough shortlisted candidates:

  • Chiang Mai

Attend selection interview

Shortlisted candidates will be informed at least 1 week in advance to attend a selection interview in Bangkok.

The selection interview may be held in Chiang Mai only if there are enough shortlisted candidates.

Award of scholarship

Successful applicants will be notified via email.
