Creative Writing Programme

The Creative Writing Programme (CWP) aims to nurture budding young writers at the Primary 5 level. By offering them guidance in the art of creative writing, the programme hopes to help young writers improve their writing craft and enhance their literary understanding. CWP activities thus provide a platform for like-minded pupils who are passionate about writing to meet and mutually develop their interests.

Admission to the programme is based strictly on merit. Interested pupils apply for CWP by submitting a portfolio of their creative work.

Pupils who are accepted for the CWP will be offered a 3-day non-residential camp during the September holidays. The camp provides participants with the opportunity to interact with published writers who can offer them advice on how to hone their writing skills.

The camp comprises the following:

  • writing workshops with published writers
  • writers' circle activity with GE Branch Officers and writing peers

The CWP camp for 2019 will be held from 9 — 11 September 2019.

Pupils admitted to the camp may submit their works to be considered for publication in Mementoes, a compilation of poetry and prose works gleaned from CWP.

Participants of the CWP camp will also be invited to return for November masterclasses to refine their skills.

For more information, download the CWP Application Package 2019 here.

Portfolio submissions must include a teacher’s recommendation.

Completed applications for CWP should be submitted online at by 5 pm, 5 July 2019.
