The MOE Music Elective Programme (MEP) and Enhanced Music Programme (EMP) offered in select secondary schools enable musically inclined students the opportunity to deepen their knowledge in music and hone their abilities in listening, creating, performing and research. The enriching curriculum provides hands-on music-making and access to specialised facilities and learning opportunities with professionals in the creative industries.

The Language Elective Programme (LEP) for Chinese, Malay and Tamil aims to nurture promising students to attain a high level of language proficiency in the 3 Mother Tongue Languages (MTL), and enhance their understanding of MTL literature. The programme also aims to develop these students to become effectively bilingual so as to better serve the needs of our nation. All LEP-JC students must offer H2 Chinese/ Malay/ Tamil Language & Literature at A level, and LEP-Sec students must offer O Level Literature in MTL, in either full or elective (non-IP schools), or a school-based MTL Literature subject (IP schools). LEP-Sec and LEP-JC are separate two-year programmes conducted at selected secondary schools, IP schools and junior colleges.

The LEP for French, German, Japanese and Spanish aims to nurture linguistically able students who offer these Foreign Languages (FL) as a third language to attain a high level of language proficiency and a critical appreciation of the countries in which these languages are spoken. The programme also aims to imbue in students a deep cultural sensitivity and develop their intercultural communication skills, so that they may bridge foreign cultures in the service of Singapore. All LEP (FL) students must offer H2 French/German/Japanese/Spanish at A Level. LEP (FL) is currently only available at the JC level and is a two-year programme conducted at the Ministry of Education Language Centre (MOELC).
