Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics and Multilingual Studies and English
During this four-year degree programme, undergraduates will read both English Literature (ELH) and Linguistics and Multilingual Studies (LMS), benefiting from the expertise and resources of the two disciplines from the School of Humanities (SoH). The Linguistics and Multilingual Studies component of the curriculum allows students to explore the many interesting facets of language and communication, from the properties of speech sounds to grammatical and discourse structure, from children’s language development to communication in bilingual and multilingual societies. For English Literature, students will focus both on traditional historical periods and on contemporary innovative approaches to the subject. Specialisations offered include all the major literary periods, Singaporean and Asian literatures, critical and literary theory, cultural studies, film studies, drama, postmodernism, and gender studies.
