Public Service Commission Scholarship (Teaching Service) (PSC(T))

The Public Service Commission Scholarship (Teaching Service), or PSC(T), is awarded to outstanding students who demonstrate strong leadership abilities. The scholarship is tenable for undergraduate studies at both local and overseas universities.

Upon completion of your studies, PSC(T) scholars will be placed on the Public Service Leadership Programme. You can look forward to a career that will include policy formulation and leadership roles in the Education Service and wider Civil Service.

Requirements

  • Be a Singapore Citizen
  • GCE A-Levels, International Baccalaureate (IB), Polytechnic Diploma, NUS High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Strong leadership qualities and passion for education
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent CCA record

What the scholarship covers

We will sponsor the following:

  • Tuition fees and other approved charges
  • Maintenance and pre-studies allowance
  • Return economy airfare, if you are studying overseas
  • Developmental programmes, such as school attachments, during your undergraduate studies
  • Internships at MOE headquarters and attachments at overseas schools
  • Approved student exchange programmes, summer programmes and CCAs
  • Possibility of sponsorship of Master’s degree (if requirements are met)

After completing your undergraduate degree, you will enrol in the Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) programme at the National Institute of Education (NIE) for teaching training.

Note: Undergraduates who complete the Bachelor of Arts/Science (Academic Discipline & Education) programme at NTU-NIE will not need to enrol in the PGDE programme.

Length of bond

Your scholarship bond length depends on your country of study:

A non-English speaking country 5 years
Singapore 4 years
Note: If you are enrolled into the PGDE programme at NIE, you will also have to serve a 3-year bond. The discharge of your bond will start upon commencement of trained service and is concurrent with your scholarship bond.

Note:

  • You have to indicate ‘Teaching Service' as your preferred scheme of service.
  • Your application will be reviewed by the PSC Secretariat and may be referred to MOE at PSC's discretion. We will consider every applicant for the full range of MOE scholarships and award.
  • If you do not hear from us by 1 July, you may consider your application to be unsuccessful.
