MOE Teaching Scholarship (Undergraduate)

The MOE Teaching Scholarship is offered to candidates with a strong passion for education and teaching. The scholarship is tenable for undergraduate studies at both local and overseas universities. Upon completion of your studies and teacher training, you will be given developmental opportunities to groom you for senior positions in teaching, leadership or specialist roles, depending on your performance and potential.

Requirements

  • Be a Singapore Citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident who is willing to take up Singapore Citizenship
  • Strong leadership qualities and passion for education
  • Good academic and Co-Curricular Activities (CCA) records
  • Reading relevant teaching subjects at university with at least two full academic semesters left at the point of application.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

What the scholarship covers

We will sponsor the following:

  • Tuition fees and other approved charges.
  • Maintenance and pre-studies allowance.
  • Return economy airfare, if you are studying overseas.
  • Developmental programmes, such as school attachments, during your undergraduate studies.
  • Approved student exchange programmes, summer programmes and CCAs.
  • Possibility of sponsorship of Master’s degree (if requirements are met).

After completing your undergraduate degree, you will enrol in the Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) programme at the National Institute of Education (NIE) for teacher training.

Length of bond

Your scholarship bond length depends on your country of study:

A non-English speaking country 5 years
Singapore 4 years
Note: If you are enrolled into the PGDE programme at NIE, you will also have to serve a 3-year bond. The discharge of your bond will start upon commencement of trained service and is concurrent with your scholarship bond.

Application

The application window is open from Monday, 25 September 2023 to Sunday, 22 October 2023. Please submit your application via FormSG by the stipulated deadline. Please note that all applicants will be considered for the full range of MOE Teaching Scholarships and Award.

We encourage interested applicants not to wait till towards the end of the application window to submit your applications. For those who submit their applications to us earlier and are shortlisted, we will be able to schedule you for interviews and other selection processes at an earlier date.
