Bachelor of Arts/Science (Double Major/Education) Teaching Scholars Programme

3. Selection process

The 2-stage selection process follows that of the MOE Teaching Scholarships and Sponsorships:

  • Selection interview
  • Other assessments
Note: All applicants being considered for teaching of Physical Education will have to take the Physical Proficiency Test (PPT). Learn how you can prepare for the test with the Physical Proficiency Test training guide.

Selection interview

If you are shortlisted, we will contact you for an interview. The interview comprises 3 components:

  • Written task
  • Short presentation
  • Discussion with the panel

You can expect to spend about 2 hours at MOE. You will need to bring the original copies of all your certificates and supporting documents for verification. We may ask you to submit additional documents, based on your shortlisted subject and teaching level.

Other assessments

You may be required to undergo the following:

  • Medical examination
  • Entrance proficiency tests
  • Additional interviews or auditions
  • Psychometric tests and related assessments
  • School stint
Note: Undergoing any of the above does not indicate that you have been selected for the Bachelor of Arts/Science (Double Major/Education) programme, the Teaching Scholarship or Award. We will inform you to register and attend the required tests accordingly.

Note for Physical Education (PE) applicants

If you have been shortlisted to teach PE, you will be required to attend a mandatory Physical Proficiency Test (PPT). There are two PPT sessions scheduled:

  • 13 Mar 2020 (Friday)
  • 2 Jul 2020 (Thursday)

We will inform you to register and attend either one of the scheduled PPT sessions. If you are unable to attend either session, we will consider and process your application in the next recruitment cycle.

Learn how you can prepare for the test with the Physical Proficiency Test training guide.

Admission into NIE

If your application is successful, you will be admitted into the Bachelor of Arts/Science (Double Major/Education) programme at NIE in August. If you do not hear from us within 6 weeks of your application, you may consider your application to be unsuccessful.
