Teaching Scholarships & Awards

If you have ever wondered why you should be a teaching scholar, ask yourself again. Why not?

Besides all the tangible benefits you can think of such as getting your tuition fees sponsored as you study at top universities around the world, the intangible rewards is what makes a teaching scholarship extraordinary.

As a teaching scholar, you get to be part of the most influential group of people anywhere in Singapore. You will have first-hand experience of shaping your students’ thoughts through your words and actions. You will also have the opportunity to review and implement education policies which will impact many generations to come.

The youths of today are the citizens and leaders of tomorrow. As a teaching scholar, you shape the future of our nation.

A great teacher changes the trajectory of one’s life. Be the change you want to see in the world, be a teaching scholar.

What happens after my undergraduate studies?

Upon completion of your undergraduate studies, you will undergo a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) programme at the National Institute of Education (NIE)*. The PGDE programme will be 16 months for all subjects with the exception of PE, which is a 2-year programme. Thereafter, you will be posted to schools as trained teachers. You can look forward to exciting professional development and career advancement opportunities in the 3 different career tracks in the Education Service—Teaching, Leadership and Senior Specialist Career Tracks.

* Scholars and award holders who have completed the Bachelor of Arts / Science (Education) degree at the NIE will not need to undergo the PGDE programme.

How do I apply?

Students who are interested in a Public Service Commission or MOE Teaching Scholarship should submit their applications online via the PSC Gateway  from 1st September to 10 days after the release of the ‘A’ Level results. Students would only need to indicate the type of Service they wish to apply for (e.g. Teaching, Legal Service, Foreign Service, etc.) in the online application.
