Changes to Secondary 1 (S1) Posting in 2021

Choice order will be introduced as a new tie-breaker to recognise the different considerations that families have in making school choices.

With the new PSLE scoring system, more students will have the same PSLE Score, and schools will be less differentiated based on cut-off points.

How will S1 Posting work in 2021?

School choice submission and tie-breakers

Posting to secondary school will still be based on your child’s PSLE Score. Your child can submit up to 6 different school choices, in order of preference.

Tie-breakers are used only if there are two or more students with the same PSLE Score vying for the last available place(s) in a school.

As with today, if your child takes HCL in primary school, there will be a posting advantage for admissions to SAP schools.

Affiliated schools

The affiliation advantage will continue under the new system.

Direct-School Admission for secondary schools (DSA-Sec)

DSA-Sec allows students to apply to schools before taking the PSLE. Students apply based on their talent in sports, CCAs and specific academic areas.
