The 2024 S-AEIS has closed. The application period for the 2025 S-AEIS will start in January 2025. Tests will be conducted in February or March 2025. These periods are tentative; details will be available here by July 2024.
1. Overview
The Supplementary Admissions Exercise for International Students (S‑AEIS) is for international students seeking admission to Primary 2 to 4 and Secondary 1 to 2 in the
same academic year.
The S-AEIS typically starts in January. Successful applicants start school in April or May.
During this admissions exercise, international students:
- Apply to take the relevant S-AEIS tests.
- Take the S-AEIS tests.
- Receive their admissions outcome.
Admission is not guaranteed and is subject to your child's performance in the tests.
If successful, placement will be based on the available vacancies in our schools and your declared residential area, where possible.

Key Dates
From January 2023
Apply for and take CEQ test
Before the S-AEIS, primary school applicants must take the relevant Cambridge English Qualification (CEQ) test run by
Cambridge Assessment English (CAE).
- When
12 months before the submission month of the S-AEIS application. For the 2024 S‑AEIS, your child must take the CEQ test from January 2023.
- What
The paper-based or computer-based CEQ test suitable for your child's age.
- Where
At a CAE-authorised exam centre in any country.
When booking the test, check if the result will be released in time for your S-AEIS application.
By January 2024
Receive CEQ test result
- Your child must meet the required Cambridge English Scale (CES) score in their CEQ test before submitting an S-AEIS application.
- Their CEQ result must be uploaded during the S-AEIS application.

Apply to take S-AEIS Primary Mathematics test
If your child has met the minimum score in the CEQ test, they can apply to take the Mathematics test appropriate for their age.
To apply, submit an online application in the Candidates Portal (CP) by 12pm on Monday, 15 January 2024. Applications may close early when all places for the S-AEIS tests are filled.

February 2024
Receive entry proof
If your application is approved and payment is successful, you will receive an email informing you to download your child’s entry proof from the CP.
April 2024
Release of outcome
Based on your child's performance in the test, they may be offered a place in a school. You can check the outcome online.
Report to school
Successful applicants must report to the offered school within the reporting period. If not, their place may be offered to other applicants.
