Compulsory Education Board

The Compulsory Education Act (Cap 51) provides for the establishment of a body to be known as the Compulsory Education Board to carry out the following duties:

• To investigate whether there is any contravention of the provisions of the CE Act.
• To make recommendations to the Director-General of Education regarding enforcement of the provisions of the CE Act.
• Generally to do all such things as are necessary to be carried out under the provisions of the CE Act.

For the purpose of performing its duties under the Compulsory Education Act, the Board may:

• Hear and examine witnesses on oath.
• Summon any person to attend any hearing of the Board to give evidence or produce any document or other article in hos possession.
• Generally require ay person to furnish any information or produce any document or other article in his possession.
• Require any person to attend any counselling or meditation session as the CE Board may specify.
• Do anything incidental to any of its powers.
