ASEAN Scholarships for Brunei: Pre-University One Scholarships
Applications for the 2009 ASEAN Scholarships for Brunei are now closed. We thank all applicants for their interest.
Students from Brunei who wish to enter Singapore Junior Colleges at the Pre-University 1 level under the ASEAN Scholarships are welcome to apply for the Pre-University awards. Candidates who are not short-listed for the scholarships will be considered for the Merit Awards.
Please note that there will be no May intake for the ASEAN Pre-University Scholarships for Brunei from Year 2006 onwards. Applications for the Year 2009 ASEAN Pre-University Scholarships are now open till 15 April 2008. Short-listed applicants will be required to go through a selection test and an interview before being awarded the scholarships.
Eligibility
Students who meet the following criteria are invited to apply for the scholarship:
- Nationals of Negara Brunei Darussalam
- Between 16 to 19 years old (as of January 2009)
- Currently in Form 5 (or equivalent) or have taken the 2007 GCE ‘O’ Level Examination
- Have done consistently well in their school examinations
- Proficiency in English and a good record of participation in extra-curricular activities would be an advantage
Important Dates
Any dates given below are tentative and are subject to changes.

Candidates short-listed for the selection test / interview will be notified a week before the selection test / interview dates. We regret only short-listed candidates will be notified.
Scholars selected to attend the bridging course will be required to arrive in Singapore in October.

Note: For students receiving their GCE ‘O’ Level results this year, please send in your application after you have received your results.
There are 2 ways which you can apply for the ASEAN scholarships. Please choose only one method to submit your application form.
You can either submit:
- Your softcopy application form through email or
- Your hardcopy application form by post

Test and Interview City
The selection tests and interviews will be conducted in the following cities:
- Kuala Lumpur
- Kuching
- Penang
- Singapore
Terms and Conditions
- Allowance of S$2,400 per annum with hostel accommodation
- Settling-in allowance of S$500 (once only)
- Economy class air passage to Singapore and back to home country upon completion of scholarship term
- Waiver of school fees (excluding miscellaneous fees)
- Waiver of GCE ‘A’ Level (or equivalent) examination fees (once only, if applicable)
- Subsidised medical benefits and accident insurance cover
- Bridging course (if applicable, in Singapore before start of course)
- There is no bond attached to the scholarship
