Internal Audit Branch

Mission

Internal Audit Branch is an independent branch established within the Ministry of Education to carry out financial and operational audits and reviews to ensure that sound internal controls systems are put into practice effectively and efficiently.

Functions

• To carry out school audits so as to review and appraise the soundness, adequacy and application of accounting, financial and other controls in schools
• To conduct financial and operational audits so as to ascertain the integrity and reliability of accounting and financial records, as well as to ascertain the extent to which internal control systems ensure that government policies, procedures, laws and regulations are complied with
• To carry out special reviews as directed by the Audit Committee
• To carry out investigations into allegations of financial malpractice
