Recognising Students’ Holistic Achievements

A total of 163 students received this year’s Special Awards from Mr Ong Ye Kung, Minister for Education (Higher Education and Skills) at the 2017 Special Awards Presentation Ceremony today. The annual Special Awards recognise students’ achievements in both academic and non-academic spheres.

2. There are two new awards presented this year, the Lee Kuan Yew Exemplary Student Award and the Lee Hsien Loong Interactive Digital Media Smart Nation Award. The Lee Kuan Yew Exemplary Student Award honours students in government-funded special education schools who have risen above their disabilities and challenges to motivate and inspire their peers. The Lee Hsien Loong Interactive Digital Media Smart Nation Award recognises the work of polytechnic students in the areas of Interactive Digital Media to advance our Smart Nation vision.

3. In addition, the Lee Kuan Yew Award for All-Round Excellence has also been extended to primary school students for the first time this year. It was previously awarded only to secondary school students.
