Selection process
Shortlisted applicants will undergo the following 2 stages in the selection process:
1. Selection interview
Shortlisted applicants can expect to receive an update from us on the arrangements for the selection interview within 6 weeks of the close of the application window. If you have not heard from us by then, you should assume that your application is unsuccessful.
The interview comprises 3 components:
- Written task
- Short presentation
- Discussion with the panel
You can expect to spend about 2 hours at MOE. You will need to bring the original copies of all your certificates and supporting documents for verification. We may ask you to submit additional documents, based on your shortlisted subject and teaching level.
2. Other assessments
You may be required to undergo the following:
- Medical examination
- Entrance proficiency tests
- Additional interviews or auditions
- Psychometric tests and related assessments
- School stint (only for specific applicants who are notified of the requirement)
Undergoing any of the above does not indicate that you have been selected for the scholarship or award.
Note on Physical Proficiency Test: Applicants who are shortlisted to teach Physical Education (PE) are required to attend a mandatory Physical Proficiency Test (PPT).
Applicants who are unable to attend the session will have their application considered and processed in the next recruitment cycle.
Learn how you can prepare for the test with the Physical Proficiency Test training guide.
Note on university applications: Generally, you are encouraged to apply to the local or overseas universities of your choice concurrently with your scholarship/award application. This is to ensure timely admission into university should you be offered the Teaching Scholarship or Award. Should you be successful in your application for the Bachelor of Arts/Science (Double Major/Education) programme at NTU-NIE, MOE will facilitate your crossover in the event you have accepted other autonomous university offers.
