What your job will entail

  • Organise and deliver the curriculum and programmes.
  • Support the development and implementation of teaching approaches and preparation of learning materials and resources.
  • Provide a positive learning environment.
  • Ensure children's well-being and safety.
  • Engage parents and education partners.
  • Monitor and document children’s learning and development.

Who we are looking for

  • Applicants should hold a Diploma in Early Childhood Care and Education – Teaching (DECCE-T) or a Diploma in Early Childhood Care and Education – Teaching (Chinese) [DECCE-T(CL)] (or equivalent).

Remuneration & Benefits

The starting salary for a trained candidate ranges from $2,350 - $4,106.

Your appointment grade and starting salary will take into consideration your relevant experience, time spent on the job, and academic training. You will also be eligible for annual and performance bonuses. You will be granted additional salary increments if you have completed full-time National Service.

Note: The above is applicable to candidates appointed with effect from October 2018. All salaries are subject to review and change.

Application Process

Phase 1: Application
  • Submit your application via Careers@Gov.

    • When filling up the application form, under the field “Position applied for”, please select “MOE Kindergarten Educator”. Otherwise, there could be a delay in the processing of your application.

  • For all application windows, your application should reach us by 11pm of the closing date. If you do not hear from us within 6 weeks from the application closing date, you may deem your application as not successful.

  • Do note that applications submitted outside the application windows will be processed together with other applications received in the next application window.

  • Use Careers@Gov to check the status of your application periodically.

Phase 2: Selection Process

Phase 2 comprises a number of concurrent processes which may not take place sequentially.


  • If you are shortlisted for an interview, you will receive an email informing you of the interview details and documents that you are required to bring to the interview.

  • To facilitate the processing of your application, please bring all required documents to the interview.

  • On the day of the interview, you will be asked to complete a written task, followed by a discussion with the panel.

  • Due to the large number of applications, only shortlisted candidates will be notified to attend an interview.

English/ Mother Tongue Language Entrance Proficiency Test(s) (EL/MTL EPT)

  • You may be required to sit for and meet the minimum requirements of the test(s) at the Ministry’s discretion.

  • If you are required to take any of the test(s), you will be informed and scheduled for them. Details of the test(s) will be sent to you through email.

Medical Examination

  • You will be contacted with instructions regarding the medical examination, which may include vaccinations according to the regulatory and prevailing guidelines adopted by the pre-school sector. The cost of the examination will be borne by MOE.

  • You are strongly encouraged to go for the medical examination at the earliest opportunity, to facilitate the processing of your application.

  • The medical examination is part of the selection process. Undergoing it does not indicate that you have been selected for appointment.

Selection for Appointment

  • If you meet all the Ministry’s requirements, your application will be considered in competition with other applicants.

  • If you are selected for appointment, you will receive an invitation to attend an appointment briefing. If you are unsuccessful in your application, you will be informed via email and you may check the status of your application via Careers@Gov.
