Job Description

As a Centre Head or Deputy Centre Head, you will be part of a dynamic team that will spearhead the Ministry’s efforts to enhance the quality of Singapore’s pre-school education landscape. You will lead a team of pre-school educators in providing quality education, holistic development and care for the children. You will oversee the leadership and management of the centre, plan and organise the kindergarten curriculum and programmes, as well as manage the deployment, professional development and well-being of staff.

Who Are We Looking For

  • Good leadership qualities and management skills.

  • A nurturing disposition.
  • A passion for preschool education, and the ability to engage stakeholders in the holistic development of children.

Centre Head

  • At least 3 years of experience managing an ECDA-licensed preschool.
  • A Diploma in Early Childhood Care and Education-Teaching (DECCE-T) (or equivalent).
  • A Diploma in Early Childhood Care and Education-Leadership (DECCE-L) (or equivalent).
  • A tertiary qualification is preferred; those without a tertiary qualification but with relevant experience and expertise may also apply.

Deputy Centre Head

  • At least 4 years of supervisory experience.
  • A Diploma in Early Childhood Care and Education-Teaching (DECCE-T) (or equivalent).
  • A Diploma in Early Childhood Care and Education-Leadership (DECCE-L) (or equivalent) would be advantageous.
  • A tertiary qualification is preferred; those without a tertiary qualification but with relevant experience and expertise may also apply.

Remuneration & Benefits

The starting salary ranges from $2,860 - $5,874.

Your appointment grade and starting salary will take into consideration your relevant experience, time spent on the job, and academic training. You will also be eligible for annual and performance bonuses. You will be granted additional salary increments if you have completed full-time National Service.

Application Process

Phase 1: Application
  • Submit your application via Careers@Gov.

    • When filling up the application form, under the field “Position applied for”, please select “MOE Kindergarten Educator”. Otherwise, there could be a delay in the processing of your application.

  • Applications received in the month will be processed in the following month, and interviews for the Centre Head and Deputy Centre Head positions will typically be held in the third or fourth week of every month.

  • Use Careers@Gov to check the status of your application periodically.

Phase 2: Selection Process

Phase 2 comprises a number of concurrent processes which may not take place sequentially.

Interview

  • If you are shortlisted for an interview, you will receive an email informing you of the interview details and documents that you are required to bring to the interview.

  • To facilitate the processing of your application, please bring all required documents to the interview.

  • On the day of the interview, you will be asked to complete a written task, followed by a discussion with the panel.

  • You may be required to take additional tests as part of the selection.

  • Due to the large number of applications, only shortlisted candidates will be notified to attend an interview.

Medical Examination

  • You will be contacted with instructions regarding the medical examination, which may include vaccinations according to regulatory and prevailing guidelines adopted by the pre-school sector. The cost of the examination will be borne by MOE.

  • You are strongly encouraged to go for the medical examination at the earliest opportunity, to facilitate the processing of your application.

  • The medical examination is part of the selection process. Undergoing it does not indicate that you have been selected for appointment.

Selection for Appointment

  • If you meet all the Ministry’s requirements, your application will be considered in competition with other applicants.

  • If you are selected for appointment, you will receive an invitation to attend an appointment briefing. If you are unsuccessful in your application, you will be informed via email and you may check the status of your application via Careers@Gov.
