It is also one of the schools offering the Bicultural Studies Programme (Chinese).

BACKGROUND

3.         The CLEP was first implemented in 1990. Currently, there are four centres offering CLEP at the Pre-University level, namely, Hwa Chong Institution, Nanyang Junior College, Temasek Junior College and Jurong Junior College.

4.         The CLEP aims to nurture students who have an aptitude for Chinese Language so that they can attain a higher level of proficiency and a better understanding of Chinese Language and Literature. It also enables academically able students to become effectively bilingual.

5.         The CLEP is a two-year programme, which includes the study of classical and modern literature (poetry, prose, novels, and drama) and Chinese culture. The programme also provides a wide range of enrichment activities to enhance students’ language skills and appreciation of the language. These activities include seminars, the Creative Writing Camp, publication of literary works and overseas immersion programmes.
Outstanding students selected for the programme will be considered for the Chinese Language Elective Scholarships if they are Singapore citizens or Singapore permanent residents.
