Local University Places Offered to UNSW Asia Students

1.         24 students who had been affected by the closure of the University of New South Wales (UNSW) Asia have been offered places by the three local universities, National University of Singapore (NUS), Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and the Singapore Management University (SMU).  Some students have been offered places by more than one university. 

2.         The breakdown of the offers is as follows:

3.         All applications by the affected students were considered on a case-by-case basis.  Decisions were made based on academic merit and open competition among all applicants to the universities in 2007.

4.         As of 29 Jun 07, 17 students have accepted the offers made by the three universities.

Background

5.         Following the announcement of the closure of the University of New South Wales (UNSW) Asia, the three local universities extended their deadline for applications for AY2007 intake to 4 June 2007, for students who have enrolled in or accepted offers from UNSW Asia.  Representatives from the student admissions offices of NUS, NTU, and SMU were present at the UNSW Asia campus at Kay Siang Road from 28 May 2007 (Mon) till 1 June 2007 (Fri) to assist the students with their applications and to address their queries.
