MINISTRY OF EDUCATION INVESTITURE CEREMONIES FOR THE 2006 NATIONAL DAY AWARDS

1.         779 officers from the Ministry of Education were awarded the National Day Awards in 2006, of which 115 officers were awarded the Commendation Medal, 66 were awarded the Efficiency Medal, and 543 were awarded the Long Service Medal.

2.         The recipients also included 55 officers who were earlier conferred the Public Administration Medal in Nov 2006. Of these, one officer received the Gold Medal, 21 received the Silver medal, and 32 received the Bronze Medal.

3.         The Commendation Medal is awarded to selected officers who have demonstrated efficiency, competence and devotion to duty for special performance under difficult circumstances. The Efficiency Medal is given to selected officers who have made contributions leading to higher work productivity in their field of work. The Long Service Medal is presented to public officers with at least 25 years of service in recognition of their service and contributions to Singapore.

4.         The Ministry of Education held its Investiture Ceremony in two separate sessions. Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Minister for Education & Second Minister for Finance, officiated at the first session on 19 Jan 2007. Mr Gan Kim Yong, Minister of State, Ministry of Education & Ministry of Manpower, officiated at the second session on 26 Jan 2007.

5.         The Ministry congratulates all recipients and thanks them for their contributions.
