SPEECH BY RADM TEO CHEE HEAN, MINISTER FOR EDUCATION & 2ND MINISTER FOR DEFENCE & MP FOR PASIR RIS GRC AT PASIR RIS ZONE 10 RC BABY-SHOW-CUM-MOTHER'S DAY AND THE PRESENTATION OF CCC-ITE SCHOLARSHIP AND BURSARY AWARDS ON SUN 7 MAY 2000 AT BLK 192, PASIR RIS ST 12 #01-06 AT 12.05 PM

2     I am happy to see many residents come on this Sunday morning to participate in the RC activity. The Pasir Ris Zone 10 RC, under the chairmanship of Madam Josephine Tan constantly organise many activities to meet the diverse needs of the residents. Today's activity is to meet the needs of our young families with young children and also for our mothers to celebrate Mother's Day. These activities are commendable. In fact, last year the RC also organised activity to commemorate the International Year of Older People as a tribute to the contributions made to society by our senior citizens . I am indeed glad to see the Pasir Ris Zone 10 RC working very hard to meet the community needs of our residents. I am also glad to see that the Pasir Ris Zone 10 RC has again won the People's Association District Award. My congratulations to the Chairman and members of the RC.

3     In conjunction with today's activity, the Pasir Ris Loyang Citizens Consultative Committee also holds its presentation of the CCC-ITE Scholarship and Bursary Awards for 23 students living in the Pasir Ris Loyang Division. 9 students will receive scholarship awards valued at $1,200 each and 14 students will receive bursary awards ranging from $600 to $800. My heartiest congratulations to our young students for their achievements and also to their parents for successfully guiding their children to perform well in their education. Thank you.
