MOE-AECES Awards for Kindergarten Excellence

Four outstanding kindergarten teachers and nine kindergartens received the MOE-AECES [Association of Early Childhood Educators (Singapore)] Awards for Kindergarten Excellence from Mr Masagos Zulkifli, Minister of State, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Home Affairs, at the Kindergarten Learning Forum 2010. The MOE-AECES Awards honour the contributions and successes of outstanding teachers and kindergartens. The awards presented this year include the Outstanding Kindergarten Innovation Award, the Best Practice Award for Learning Centres and the Outstanding Kindergarten Teacher Award.

The Outstanding Kindergarten Innovation Award recognises kindergartens that have implemented impactful and innovative projects that have enhanced the children’s learning experiences. Living Sanctuary Kindergarten, Ramakrishna Mission Sarada Kindergarten, and The Ascension Kindergarten received the Distinction Award. Far Eastern Kindergarten and St. James’ Church Kindergarten received the Merit Award.

The Best Practice Award for Learning Centres recognises kindergartens that have enhanced the children’s learning experiences through effective facilitation by teachers at learning corners. Living Sanctuary Kindergarten received the Distinction Award. PCF Nanyang Blk 934, PCF Nee Soon East Blk 408 and Ramakrishna Mission Sarada Kindergarten received the Merit Awards.

The Outstanding Kindergarten Teacher Award honours teachers who have contributed significantly to teaching and learning in their kindergartens. Ms Sheena Ang Ying Hui from PCF Centre at Punggol East Blk 143 and Mdm Yang Pei Luan from Soka Kindergarten received the Distinction Award. Ms Archanaa M. Velayutham from Ramakrishna Mission Sarada Kindergarten and Mdm Norhayati Bte Mohamed Noor from PCF centre at Tampines North Blk 443 received the Merit Award for their passion, commitment and perseverance in providing holistic learning experiences for their students.

The nominations for these awards were opened to the public. The nominations were shortlisted based on a set of criteria drawn up by MOE and AECES, and assessed by selection panels involving early childhood educators. The assessment involved evaluation of nomination forms as well as on-site visits at the kindergartens.
