MOE Launches Kindergarten-Link
To support kindergartens in enhancing their administrative efficiency and to facilitate the sharing of best practices, the Ministry of Education (MOE) has introduced the Kindergarten Link (K-Link), an internet-based one-stop platform that provides all kindergartens with a direct communication link with MOE. K-Link was launched by Ms Grace Fu, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of National Development and Ministry of Education, at the MOE Kindergarten Conference 2010 today.
Developed to enhance the data management of MOE and kindergartens, K-Link provides kindergartens with an array of tools and resources that will enable them to:
- Manage their kindergarten, teacher and pupil data;
- Apply for training workshops, conferences and learning forums;
- Access up-to-date information to enhance operations; and
- Access the latest advisories from MOE.
K-Link will also provide MOE with up-to-date information on the kindergartens, facilitating MOE’s reviews of policies and support for kindergartens and their pupils. More information on K-Link can be found in Annex A.
MOE Kindergarten Conference 2010
The theme for the MOE Kindergarten Conference, “Go Out and Learn—The Wonders of the Outdoors” highlights how pre-school educators could use the environment outside the classroom to enrich children’s learning and develop them holistically. More than 1,000 early childhood educators attended the conference today.
This year’s Kindergarten Conference also saw the launch of the inaugural MOE Kindergarten Distinguished Speaker series. The Distinguished Speaker series is the latest in MOE’s efforts to provide opportunities for kindergarten practitioners to learn from world-renowned experts in early childhood education. The Distinguished Speaker series aims to give kindergarten educators the opportunity to think about their work and to see it from new angles and fresh perspectives. This would enable them to continually uplift the quality of learning experiences they provide for their pupils. Professor Robin Moore, Director of the Natural Learning Initiative at North Carolina State University, will share his expertise on designing outdoor environments that enhance the development of young children at the conference. The synopsis of the presentations and the write-ups of the speakers at the conference can be found in Annex B and Annex C respectively.
