About ISEF

ISEF, the world’s largest pre-college science fair, is held in the United States annually and provides an opportunity for students from around the world to showcase their science research projects. This year the competition saw 1,611 finalists chosen from 539 ISEF-affiliated science fairs from 59 countries. Two individual projects and one team project from each affiliated fair are selected to compete at the international level. About 1,000 judges from different fields of science, engineering, and industry professionals are involved in the on-site judging of the projects and selection of the winners. ISEF is often regarded as the “Olympics” of science research competitions. In each topic category, First, Second and Third awards are given out.

The Singapore Team is chosen from top awardees in the Singapore Science and Engineering Fair (SSEF) held in March this year. SSEF is a national competition jointly organised by the Ministry of Education, the Agency for Science, Technology & Research (A*STAR) and Science Centre Singapore.
