Ministry of Education Investiture Ceremonies for the 2009 National Day Awards

874 nominees from the Ministry of Education and educational institutions were awarded the National Day Awards in 2009, of whom 147 officers were awarded the Commendation Medal, 79 were awarded the Efficiency Medal, and 588 were awarded the Long Service Medal.

The recipients also include 59 officers who were earlier conferred the Public Administration Medal in Nov 2009. Of these, one officer received the Gold Medal, 21 received the Silver Medal and 37 received the Bronze Medal. In addition, 1 officer received the Meritorious Service Medal.

The Commendation Medal is awarded to selected officers who have demonstrated efficiency, competence and devotion to duty for special performance under difficult circumstances. The Efficiency Medal is given to selected officers who have made contributions leading to higher work productivity in their field of work. The Long Service Medal is presented to public officers with at least 25 years of service in recognition of their service contributions to Singapore.

The Ministry of Education will hold its Investiture Ceremony in two separate sessions. Dr Ng Eng Hen, Minister for Education and Second Minister for Defence, will officiate the first session on 29 January 2010. Mr S Iswaran, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Trade & Industry and Ministry of Education, will officiate the second session on 4 February 2010.
