MOE's precautionary measures against Influenza A (H1N1)

Daily temperature-taking in schools has commenced on Monday 4 May 2009. Temperature screening for all staff and visitors to schools, Ministry of Education (MOE) HQ and other MOE buildings will also be instituted. Information on the visitors, including the date and time of visit, personal particulars and contact number of visitors, will be recorded. This is to facilitate contact tracing when the need arises.

Schools, Post Secondary Education Institutions (PSEIs), kindergartens and special education schools have been asked to observe any travel advisories by MOH and to review travel plans particularly to affected countries. Staff and students with a travel history to Mexico over the past seven days will be quarantined for seven days when they enter Singapore and undergo phone surveillance for symptoms for Influenza A (H1N1). In addition, those who are returning from affected areas (i.e. the United States and the state of Nova Scotia in Canada as of 2 May), will be required to undergo leave of absence from work or school for seven days.

MOE has issued advisories to schools, Post-Secondary Education Institutions (PSEIs), kindergartens and special education schools on the above precautionary measures.

MOE is in close consultation with MOH and will activate other appropriate measures should there be a need to.
