Ministry of Education Investiture Ceremonies for National Day Awards 2008
924 officers from the Ministry of Education were awarded the National Day Awards in 2008, of whom 142 officers were awarded the Commendation Medal, 74 were awarded the Efficiency Medal, and 651 were awarded the Long Service Medal.
The recipients also included 55 officers who were earlier conferred the Public Administration Medal in November 2008. Of these, two officers received the Gold Medal, 20 received the Silver Medal and 33 received the Bronze Medal. In addition, one officer received the Distinguished Service Order Medal and one officer received the Meritorious Service Medal.
The Commendation Medal is awarded to selected officers who have demonstrated efficiency, competence and devotion to duty for special performance under difficult circumstances. The Efficiency Medal is given to selected officers who have made contributions leading to higher work productivity in their field of work. The Long Service Medal is presented to public officers with at least 25 years of service in recognition of their service contributions to Singapore.
The Ministry of Education will hold its Investiture Ceremony in three separate sessions. Dr Ng Eng Hen, Minister for Education and Second Minister for Defence, will officiate the first session on 13 January 2009. RAdm (NS) Lui Tuck Yew, Senior Minister of State, Ministry for Education and Ministry for Information, Communications and the Arts, will officiate the second session on 20 January 2009. Mrs Tan Ching Yee, Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Education, will officiate the third session on 22 January 2009.
