Visit by Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Minister For Education and Second Minister For Finance, to Manila, Republic of the Philippines, 9-10 October 2006

1           Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Minister for Education and Second Minister for Finance, will be visiting Manila, Philippines from 9 to 10 October 2006.

2           Mr Shanmugaratnam will meet his counterpart, Philippines Secretary of Education Hon Jesli A Lapus and visit the Ramon Magsaysay High School. In his capacity as the President of the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organisation (SEAMEO) Council, he will also visit the SEAMEO INNOTECH Regional Centre for Educational Innovation and Technology. 

3           Mr Shanmugaratnam will also meet with Philippines senators and with Singaporean businessmen in Manila.

4           Mr Shanmugaratnam will be accompanied by senior officials from the Ministry of Education.
