Visit by Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam,
Minister for Education and Second Minister for Finance,
to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia,
17-18 August 2006
 

1.         Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Minister for Education and Second Minister for Finance, will be visiting Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 17 to 18 August 2006.

2.         Mr Shanmugaratnam will meet his counterparts, Malaysia Education Minister Y.B. Dato’ Sri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein, Malaysia Higher Education Minister Dato’ Mustapa Mohammad and Malaysia Second Finance Minister Nor Mohamed Yakcop.

3.         Mr Shanmugaratnam will visit Victoria Institution in Kuala Lumpur to witness student exchange activities with Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) from Singapore.  Victoria Institution and Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) are partner schools under the Malaysia-Singapore School Twinning Programme.

4.         Mr Shanmugaratnam will also visit the SEAMEO TROPMED Regional Centre for Microbiology, Parasitology and Entomology located in the Institute for Medical Research (IMR) in Kuala Lumpur.

5.         Mr Shanmugaratnam will be accompanied by senior officials from the Ministry of Education on the trip.
