PRESIDENT'S AWARD FOR TEACHERS 2006

  1. The President’s Award for Teachers was introduced in 1998 to recognize outstanding teachers for their commitment and dedication to their role of developing the students under their charge. These teachers are those, who, through word and action, inspire both their students and peers. To-date, 25 teachers have received the award.
  2. This year is the ninth year of the award. Members of the public are invited to nominate outstanding teachers for the President's Award for Teachers 2006. The award will be conferred by the President at the Istana on Teachers' Day, 1 September 2006.
  3. Nominees must be teachers who are dedicated to the welfare, character and moral development of students. They must demonstrate that they have shown excellent efforts in nurturing the spirit of enterprise, innovation and curiosity in our young and developing their potential. They must also be role models of continuous learning and exemplars to both their students and peers in their character and conduct.
  4. Nomination forms are available at all primary and secondary schools, junior colleges, centralised institutes, the Customer Service Centre of the Ministry of Education at 1 North Buona Vista Drive and at Teachers Network, 51 Grange Road.
  5. Nomination forms can also be downloaded from the Ministry of Education website at http://www.moe.gov.sg and at the Teachers Network website at http://sam11.moe.gov.sg/tn/.
  6. The closing date for nominations is 10 March 2006.
