MINISTRY OF EDUCATION INVESTITURE CEREMONY

FOR THE 2005 NATIONAL DAY AWARDS

More than 1000 Officers Awarded

 

1.                   1132 officers from the Ministry of Education were awarded the 2005 National Day Awards, of which 93 officers were awarded the Commendation Medal, 67 the Efficiency Medal[1] and 921 the Long Service Medal[2].

 

2.                   The recipients also included 51 officers who were earlier conferred higher medals in Nov 2005. Of these, one officer received the Public Administration Medal (Gold), 20 the Public Administration Medal (Silver) and 30 the Public Administration Medal (Bronze).

 

3.                   The Commendation Medal is awarded to selected officers for special performance under difficult circumstances, efficiency, competence and devotion to duty. The Efficiency Medal is given to selected officers who have made contributions leading to higher work productivity in their field of work. The Long Service Medal is presented to public officers with at least 25 years of service in recognition of their service and contributions to Singapore.

 

4.                   Minister for Education, Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam, officiated at the Investiture Ceremony for the 2005 National Day Awards on Wednesday, 4 Jan 06.

 

5.                   The Ministry congratulates all recipients and thanks them for their contributions.
