VISIT BY MR THARMAN SHANMUGARATNAM, MINISTER FOR EDUCATION, TO EUROPE, 25 APRIL TO 1 MAY 2005

1          Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Minister for Education, will be visiting Europe over 25 April – 1 May 2005  for the purpose of visiting selected educational institutions and meeting key financial players.

2          On MAS matters, Mr Shanmugaratnam will meet key banks and fund managers in London and Milan. He will also attend a meeting in Warsaw  at the invitation of the Group of Thirty, a group of eminent financial sector persons chaired by Paul Volcker.

3          On MOE matters, Mr Shanmugaratnam will visit specialised tertiary institutions in London and Milan, in applied disciplines like design. He will also visit the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate (UCLES).
