Malay Language and Tamil Language Reviews - Inviting Public Feedback
The Malay Language Curriculum Pedagogy Review Committee and the Tamil Language Curriculum Pedagogy Review Committee wish to invite feedback and suggestions from the public on the teaching and learning of Malay Language and Tamil Language, respectively, in our schools. These views will help the committees in their review of the teaching and learning of Malay language and Tamil language.
Members of the public are invited to give their views on any of the areas below:
· Syllabus and teaching resources
· Teaching methods and teacher training
· Assessment and examination
· Community support

Background
The Ministry of Education has appointed separate committees to review the curricula and pedagogy for Malay language and Tamil language in schools. The committees have officially begun their work in January 2005. They are expected to complete their reviews by August 2005.
The Malay Language Curriculum and Pedagogy Review Committee is chaired by Associate Professor Dr Hadijah Rahmat, Asian Language and Culture Department, National Institute of Education/Nanyang Technological University.
The Tamil Language Curriculum and Pedagogy Review Committee is chaired by Dr N Varaprasad, Chief Executive Officer, National Library Board.
The committees are looking at four major areas for review:
· Syllabus and teaching resources
· Teaching methods and teacher training
· Assessment and examination
· Community support
