40th SOUTHEAST ASIAN MINISTERS OF EDUCATION ORGANISATION COUNCIL CONFERENCE

 

HANOI, VIETNAM, 14 - 17 MARCH 2005

 

 

1.                   Minister for Education, Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam, will be attending the 40th Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organisation (SEAMEO) Council Conference in Hanoi, Vietnam  on 14 – 17 March 2005.   He will be accompanied on the trip by officials from the Ministry of Education.

 

2.                   SEAMEO is a regional grouping of 10 countries in the Southeast Asia region, namely, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.  The SEAMEO Council, comprising the Education Ministers of the 10 SEAMEO Member countries, meets once a year at the SEAMEO Council Conference to share perspectives on education and discuss programmes for education co-operation among the Southeast Asian countries.
