THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION INVESTITURE CEREMONY

  FOR THE 2004 NATIONAL DAY AWARDS

 

 

1.                   754 officers from the Ministry of Education (MOE) were awarded the 2004 National Day Awards.   88 officers were awarded the Commendation Medal, 66 the Efficiency Medal, and 548 the Long Service Medal.

 

2.                   The recipients also included 52 officers who were earlier conferred higher medals in November 2004.  Of these, one officer received the Meritorious Service Medal, two the Public Administration Medal (Gold), 21 the Public Administration Medal (Silver), and 28 the Public Administration Medal (Bronze).

 

3.                   The Commendation Medal is awarded to selected officers who have shown special performance under difficult circumstances, competence and devotion to duty. The Efficiency Medal is given to selected officers who have shown superior performance, consistent diligence and dedication in their work. The Long Service Medal is presented to selected public officers with at least 25 years of service in recognition of their service and contributions to Singapore.

 

4.                   Minister for Education, Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam, officiated at the Investiture Ceremony on Monday, 7 Feb 2005. Minister for Manpower & Second Minister for Education, Dr Ng Eng Hen, Minister of State for Education, Mr Chan Soo Sen, and Senior Parliamentary Secretary (Education), Mr Hawazi Daipi, were also present.

 

5.                   The Ministry congratulates all recipients and thanks them for their contributions.
