27 July 2004 JUNIOR COLLEGES DEBATING CHAMPIONSHIP 2004 Anglo-Chinese Junior College has emerged as Champion of the Junior Colleges Debating Championship 2004, which began with the preliminary rounds on Sat 10 July 2004 and culminated in the Final on Sat 24 July 2004. The finalists from Raffles Junior College and Anglo-Chinese Junior College debated the motion, “This House believes that the Internet makes formal education irrelevant”. A total of 17 teams participated in the debate series. All junior colleges and the Millennia Institute fielded a team each. The defending champion was Raffles Junior College. 2. The 2004 debate series was jointly organised by the Ministry of Education and Temasek Junior College, and was held at Temasek Junior College. Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister of State for Trade & Industry and National Development, was the Guest-of-Honour for the Final. |
