MINISTRY OF EDUCATION INVESTITURE CEREMONY FOR THE 2003 NATIONAL DAY AWARDS
1. 678 recipients from schools, the Ministry of Education (MOE) Headquarters and its Statutory Boards were awarded the 2003 National Day Awards. 90 officers were awarded the Commendation Medal, 76 the Efficiency Medal and 470 the Long Service Medal. 2. The recipients also included 42 officers who were earlier conferred higher medals in November 2003. Of these, one officer received the Distinguished Service Order, one the Public Administration Medal (Gold), 15 the Public Administration Medal (Silver), and 25 the Public Administration Medal (Bronze). 3. The Commendation Medal is awarded to selected officers who have shown special performance under difficult circumstances, competence and devotion to duty. The Efficiency Medal is given to selected officers who have shown superior performance, consistent diligence and dedication in their work. The Long Service Medal is presented to selected public officers with at least 25 years of service in recognition of their service and contributions to Singapore. 4. Acting Minister for Education, Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam, officiated at the 2003 National Day Awards on Saturday, 10 Jan 2004. Acting Minister for Manpower & Minister of State for Education, Dr Ng Eng Hen, and the Parliamentary Secretary (Education), Mr Hawazi Daipi, were also present. 5. The Ministry congratulates all recipients and thanks them for their contributions. |
