In January 2001, COMPASS (COMmunity and PArents in Support of Schools) began its second term of office with the appointment of seven new members to join the council. The new members for 2001 are Mr Harish Nim, Ms Nora Kang, Mrs Kok Chwee Kee, Mr Kwek Hiok Chuang, Mr Mohd Abdul Akbar BM A Kader, Mrs Mildred Tan and Mrs Daisie Yip.
2. COMPASS, set up in Dec 1998, is a council chaired by RAdm Teo Chee Hean, Minister for Education (MOE). It is comprised of principals and members of the community with the purpose of advising MOE on ways to engage parents and the community as partners in education. COMPASS seeks to provide opportunities for different stakeholders to communicate their perspectives on various aspects of partnerships. It also serves as a forum where the best practices on collaborative efforts of school, home and community are surfaced, shared, promoted and recognised.
3. The advisory council will meet quarterly and conduct visits to schools throughout 2001 and 2002. The council will be visiting Keming Primary School on 27 Feb 2001. The composition of the new Council is at the Annex.
