MOE INVESTITURE CEREMONY FOR 2000 NATIONAL DAY AWARDS
The Ministry of Education will hold an Investiture Ceremony to confer the 2000 National Day Awards to officers from schools, the Ministry Headquarters and its Statutory Boards on 20 Jan 2001. Minister for Education, RAdm Teo Chee Hean, will officiate at the event. The two Senior Ministers of State for Education, Dr Aline Wong and Mr Peter Chen, and the Parliamentary Secretary (Education), Mr Mohamad Maidin, will also be present.
2 498 officers from the Ministry of Education were awarded the 2000 National Day Awards. 28 of these officers received the higher medals, [Distinguished Service Order (1), Public Administration Medal (Silver-9), (Bronze-18)], which were conferred earlier in Nov 2000.
3 Of the remaining 470 recipients, 40 officers were awarded the Commendation Medal, 78 the Efficiency Medal and 352 the Long Service Medal. The Commendation, Efficiency and Long Service Medal recipients will be presented their medals during the Investiture Ceremony.
4 The Commendation Medal is awarded to selected officers who have demonstrated efficiency, competence and devotion to duty under difficult circumstances. The Efficiency Medal is given to selected officers who have made contributions leading to higher work productivity in their field of work. The Long Service Medal is presented to selected public officers with at least 25 years of service in recognition of their service and contributions to Singapore.
