The 36th Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organisation (SEAMEO) Council Conference will be held in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia, from 11 - 14 February 2001. Minister for Education and Second Minister for Defence, RADM (NS) Teo Chee Hean, will be attending the Conference. He will be accompanied by senior officials from the Ministry of Education.

2.     SEAMEO is a regional grouping of 10 countries in the Southeast Asia region, namely, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. The SEAMEO Council, comprising the Education Ministers of the 10 SEAMEO Member countries, meets once a year to formulate policies for SEAMEO.
