The Ministry of Education (MOE) is joining hands with the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) to organise the first Asia-Europe Classroom (AEC) International Teachers' Conference. The theme of the conference is Learning Beyond Boundaries - Towards Closer Classroom Collaboration between Asia and Europe. It will be held at Raffles Girls' Secondary School (RGS) from 2 to 5 September 2001.
2 For the first AEC, there will be keynote addresses by three leaders in the use of Information Technology in Education. These are Prof Stephen Heppell, Director of ULTRALAB, Anglia Polytechnic University, England and Dr Nancy Law, Director of Centre for IT in School and Teacher Education, University of Hong Kong, China and Miss Yeo Hong Mui, Principal, Pasir Ris Secondary School.
3 The four-day Conference aims to provide some 65 educators (teachers, principals and educational administrators) of Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) member states with the opportunity to collaborate on joint IT projects with special relevance to their schools' curricula and to promote intercultural learning through working group sessions. These projects will be assessed a year after their implementation, and awards will be presented to the top five successful implementations.
4 Part of ASEF's People-to-People Exchange, the AEC is actively involved in projects and activities to promote people-to-people exchanges by initiating new projects in an online-classroom and organising AEC exhibitions.
