Visit to Kingdom of Cambodia and Lao People's Democratic Republic by RAdm (NS) Teo Chee Hean, Minister for Education and Second Minister for Defence, from 20 December to 23 December 1999

Minister for Education and Second Minister for Defence, RAdm (NS) Teo Chee Hean, will be visiting Phnom Penh, Cambodia and Vientiane, Lao PDR from 20 December to 23 December 1999.

2. Minister Teo will meet his counterparts, the Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister/Minister of Education, Youth and Sports, Mr Tol Lah, and the Laotian Minister of Education, Mr Phimmasone Leuangkhamma, to discuss bilateral relations in the area of education and in his capacity as the President of SEAMEO (Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization) Council. Minister Teo will also be calling on other Cambodian and Lao leaders to discuss education and security issues. Minister Teo will announce the extension of the ASEAN (Secondary) Scholarships to Cambodia and Lao PDR.

3. In addition, Minister Teo will be visiting schools and educational institutions in both countries. He will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Education, Defence and Foreign Affairs.
