1999 JOINT ADMISSIONS EXERCISE (JAE)
1. Registration for admission to junior colleges, centralised institutes, Nanyang Polytechnic, Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Singapore Polytechnic, Temasek Polytechnic and the Institute of Technical Education will commence on Monday 1 Mar 99 and close on Thursday 4 Mar 99.
2. Before registering, applicants should read carefully the information booklet entitled "Joint Admissions Exercise, 1999: Information For Students Seeking Admission To Junior Colleges, Centralised Institutes, Nanyang Polytechnic, Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Singapore Polytechnic, Temasek Polytechnic and the Institute of Technical Education". School candidates will get the information booklet from their schools while private candidates will receive their booklet by post. Other applicants may obtain copies of the information booklet from any of the above-mentioned institutions or Pupil Placement Office, 1st storey, Annex Building, Ministry of Education, Kay Siang Road, Singapore 248922. Applicants are also advised to read the prospectuses of Nanyang Polytechnic, Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Singapore Polytechnic, Temasek Polytechnic and the Institute of Technical Education.
REGISTRATION USING FORM A OR INTERNET
3. All applicants who sat for the 1998 GCE ‘O’ Level Examination will receive a Form A together with his results slip from his own secondary school or, in the case of a private candidate, by post. The eligibility of the applicants for the various courses is printed in their Form A if they are using only the 1998 GCE ´O´ level examination results or the combined 1997 and 1998 GCE ´O´ level examination results.
4. Applicants can register through Internet if they have already given authorisation to their secondary school for the registration fee to be deducted from their GIRO bank account used for the deduction of their school fees. Registration starts from 8.30 am on 1 Mar 99 and ends at 4 pm on 4 Mar 99. Applicants can also register using computers in the junior colleges, centralised institutes, polytechnics and ITE institutes between 8.30 am and 4.00 pm. 5. Applicants will key in their NRIC and the GIRO bank account numbers which they use for deduction of their school fees. A fee of $7 will be deducted from their GIRO bank accounts as registration fee. Applicants need to ensure that there are sufficient funds in their GIRO bank accounts. Deduction will be made on 12th March 99.
6. Applicants without GIRO bank accounts or those with accounts but have not given authorisation for deduction of registration fee should submit their Form A to the institution of their first choice. They will pay $7 in cash for their registration fee.
REGISTRATION USING FORM B
7. Applicants using the results of GCE ´O´ level examination taken before 1998 or combined GCE ´O´ level examination results obtained from two separate sittings not mentioned in para 2 should use Form B. Applicants who are exempted from offering an official mother tongue and at the same time not required to offer an official foreign language in lieu of the mother tongue should also use Form B. Form B is obtainable at the Pupil Placement Office of the Ministry of Education, Kay Siang Road. Applicants using Form B will submit it at the Pupil Placement Office.
