1996 SINGAPORE-CAMBRIDGE GENERAL CERTIFICATE OF EDUCATION (NORMAL LEVEL) EXAMINATION

  1. 12,128 pupils in the Secondary 4 Normal Course sat the 1996 Singapore-Cambridge GCE Normal Level Examination in August/September this year. A certificate is awarded to a candidate who obtains a Grade 5 or better in at least one subject. 12,085 pupils (99.6%) are awarded certificates in the 1996 examination.
  2. School candidates who obtain an aggregate not exceeding 10 points in their 3 best subjects and a Grade 5 or better in English Language will be promoted to the Secondary 5 Normal Course in 1997. 9,669 pupils (79.7%) are eligible for promotion.
  3. Of the 2,971 private candidates who sat the examination, 1,876 (63.1%) are awarded certificates.
  4. School candidates have been issued with their results slips by their respective schools. Private candidates will be informed of their results by post.
